Getting started

Create, open and organise a project.

You work in a project in Vestigia Scriptorium. A project brings together modules, their nodes, multimedia and open workspace views. You can open several projects and switch between them.

Create a project

  1. Choose File → New project….
  2. Fill in the required details in the wizard.
  3. Confirm.

Where appropriate, modules can be linked through references. For example, a person in Genealogy can have manuscript pages mentioning them attached, and references to a seal or coat of arms can be added.

Open and save

  1. Choose File → Open project… or an item under Recent projects.
  2. Use Save project regularly.
  3. Use Save project as… for a different destination file.
  4. Use Close project to close it.

Before closing a project with unsaved changes, the application offers to save. Projects can also be imported or exported as *.vestigia files; see Import and export.

Find your way around

After opening a project, use:

  • Project tree to choose a module, folder or data node;
  • the central workspace for tabs and subwindows;
  • Properties for the selected object's attributes;
  • Operation history to inspect and undo changes.

The main areas include:

  1. Genealogy — in development
  2. Manuscripts — in development
  3. Heraldry — in development
  4. Sigillography
  5. Epigraphy
  6. Palaeography
  7. Archival aids

See User interface for more information.
